Want the chance to work with one of Manchester’s largest and most iconic venues? Enjoy working creatively and thinking outside the box?
At Manchester Central, we have an exciting opportunity for Manchester-based university students to be involved in a creative video content competition, with the chance to win one of three cash prizes, as well as having their creative outputs being used across our Manchester Central social media channels.
Manchester Central is one of the UK’s largest and most versatile event venues, situated in the heart of the city. Our vaulted arches and station clock have made our venue an iconic city feature for more than 140 years. We are working on refreshing our video content for 2024 with the aim of capturing the unique nature of the venue, as well as promoting the huge range of experiences we offer. With this in mind, we are inviting current university students studying in the city to join us at Manchester Central for an exciting competition!
Across two days in April 2024, we will be opening our doors to entrants, offering a tour of the venue, giving them a chance to meet some of the team who help bring the space to life, talk through the full brief, and ask any questions. After the initial tour on the 17th April, students will be asked to submit storyboard submissions, and then shortlisted individuals will be invited back to site on the 23rd April to capture content.
We will be looking for students to think creatively and consider how they might tell a story visually, with final outputs being an edited piece of videography of up to one minute; these pieces could take the form of an Instagram reel or a YouTube video- the choice is theirs! The competition submissions do not have to be created with sophisticated equipment, we are more interested in creative vision and editing skills.
There will be 3 cash prizes available: the final winner from eligible submissions will win £500, with two runners up winning £100 each. The winner will be invited back to the venue at a later date to capture more content, with support from our marketing team, to further their initial submission. The winner and runner up’s footage will be then utilised across Manchester Central’s social media channels, with creators tagged, and there may be further future opportunities available.
Entrants must register their attendance before the 16th of April using their official university email.
