HYROX is the World Series of Fitness Racing! Around the world athletes compete in the same race, on the same course; starting with a 1 km run, followed by a functional workout repeated 8 times.
Bringing the competition to Manchester for the first time, HYROX chose Manchester Central to host the event after being wowed by Central Hall.
Eight individual exercise areas were situated at different points within the hall and then the running track circled the outside edge. The individual exercise areas included rowing machines, kettle bells, ski ergometers and sandbags.
Due to the scale of Central Hall, we were also able to accommodate the warm-up and recovery areas, a number of partner exhibition stands, retail catering areas and a live DJ to help build the atmosphere. A number of our Central breakout rooms were also used to accommodate changing rooms for the athletes and an area for the volunteers.
There were 2280 athletes competing on the day, split into different divisions. Throughout the day small award ceremonies took place for each division, and the fastest athletes in each were informed that they had qualified for the World Championships in Las Vegas!
Following the success of the event, HYROX not only returned to Manchester Central, but it also brought its World Championships to the venue and the city in 2023.

It is not easy to find venues that suit our indoor fitness race, let alone one that is so beautiful and located right in the heart of Manchester! The venue team were great to work with as they were ready to support with any challenges that popped up throughout the day.
